Blog #4 MoMI

My experience at the Museum of the Moving Image might be a little different from others being that I have already been there. I went on a school trip to the museum when I was younger and went on very a similar tour so for me it was very interesting to go through a similar tour and take in the information in a different mindset, I was able to understand the importance of the information and different exhibits seeing them this time around because of my knowledge of media and film. When I first went when I was younger the museum was so cool to me because when I thought of a museum I would think paintings or sculptures but this museum seemed full of toys and stuff we could actually interact with; going back this time I understood more the art of the pieces there and the art behind the interaction with the different exhibits. The exhibit that I have always found interesting was the dubbing studio. The studio brings fun to a job that is actually very detail oriented and hard work; ...

Blog #3 Relationship Between Shots

Image
This scene is from the movie “Now You See Me”, in this scene the first shot takes place in one of the main characters rooms. It opens up with a shot of the main character from behind as he is stood in front of a mirror but we can only see his back and there is a narration with the characters voice, as he says "closer" the camera zooms in on his back and then immediately jump cuts to his hands and the cards. This scene consists of very fast jump cuts between shots, close up of his hands and the cards, then a close up of his face, and a panning around him; these shots give the audience the idea that they are seeing everything and getting all perspectives, which he is talking about in his narration when he says “the more you think you see the easier it will be to fool you”, so the camera shows the audience all angles to make us think we see it all. Then it moves into the the main character performing a magic trick in a huge crowd but the camera is mainly focused on two...

Project #2 Audio Portrait

"What I Hear"

For my sound walk I decided to walk through my neighborhood in Queens, I used to walk a lot around my neighborhood when I was younger and had to walk to and from school or would hang out with friends at the local park but I do not do it as much and I definitely do not do it in the way I did this sound walk. The area I live in is full of attached private houses and small business. The second I stepped outside of my house my neighbor was having work done on their house so there was loud drilling and banging. I also live on a very busy street so there was plenty of sounds of cars honking or speeding by, it is also an emergency vehicle route so of course there are sounds of sirens. I also live a few blocks away from a highway but I never realized how close it actually was till I walked around the area and was able to hear tons of cars and trucks. I also live in the path of the airports so there was tons of planes flying over head along this walk. Being that it is cold out there w...
