Blog #3 Relationship Between Shots
This scene is from the movie “Now You See Me”, in this scene the first shot takes place in one of the main characters rooms. It opens up with a shot of the main character from behind as he is stood in front of a mirror but we can only see his back and there is a narration with the characters voice, as he says "closer" the camera zooms in on his back and then immediately jump cuts to his hands and the cards. This scene consists of very fast jump cuts between shots, close up of his hands and the cards, then a close up of his face, and a panning around him; these shots give the audience the idea that they are seeing everything and getting all perspectives, which he is talking about in his narration when he says “the more you think you see the easier it will be to fool you”, so the camera shows the audience all angles to make us think we see it all. Artist Statement
Shannon Downing is a media major at Hunter College in New York City, where she was born and raised. She has been surrounded by music her entire life, due to the fact that her dad was very musically inclined, being in many bands throughout his life; also the owner of a rehearsal studio called Roxy Studios, located in Long Island City. Shannon spent most of her days growing up in that studio, meeting and listening to an incredibly diverse group of musicians and artists. Being exposed to this environment throughout her life, has caused her to have a deeply rooted love and passion for music; she would love to be involved in the music industry, to continue being surrounded by the art of music that has helped make her who she is today. After losing someone very close to her, Shannon’s love for traveling and appreciating the smaller things in life has grown.
